Unlike simple digital archiving, which is limited to the preservation of bits, information curation proactively addresses technological obsolescence and semantic degradation: through the application of structured preservation metadata (such as the OAIS model or the PREMIS standard), format migration, and constant integrity checks, it ensures that an information heritage remains not only accessible but also fully intelligible, authentic, and contextualized for future generations.
