Information Valorization
Information valorization in long-term preservation is the strategic process aimed at transforming archived information assets into active resources capable of generating new cultural, scientific, or economic value over time. While long-term preservation ensures the integrity and accessibility of data in the future, valorization amplifies its impact by making preserved resources easily discoverable, reusable, and integrable into new contexts. Through the opening of databases (Open Data), the creation of knowledge ontologies, and the exposure of metadata to analytical algorithms and artificial intelligence models, historical information ceases to be a passive storage cost and becomes a dynamic asset from which to extract new insights, fuel research, and support current and future decision-making processes.
Structuring information assets is essential to creating a valuable, effective, comprehensive, and self-sufficient archive.
